Has any dyno testing been done and if so what are the results? What gains can I expect?
Yes the system has been dyno tested on both street as well as race cars. The dyno test below shows the maximum horsepower and torque gained on an unmodified street engine. We have more dyno sheets available on request. Racing dyno tests were performed by the technical staff at NE smith racing and Fastrak Racing for approval. We guarantee horsepower and torque gain no matter what!
How does the Plasmastorm system work and how does the Plasmastorm spark differ from a standard ignition spark?
By definition all sparks comprise of an ionized channel called plasma. However the ionized channel generated by a conventional rotary distributor or HEI distributor ignition coil fired by high performance CDI modules from MSD, CRANE, MALLORY, PETRONIX etc are extremely low in net energy content. This is primarily due to losses owing to high resistance in the thin wires of the secondary side of the ignition coil. A standard ignition spark is characterized by high voltage with peak current not exceeding 200 hundred milliamps.
The Plasmastorm system works by discharging a blast of highly charged IONS after the High volteage has been generated by a conventional HEI system resuling in a high voltage ignition spark with a very large ignition kernel with peak currents exceeding 575 amps. The net energy output of the Plasmastorm spark is in the order of several thousand Kilowatts as opposed to a 20 watt standard ignition spark.
A standard ignition spark is barely visible and generates little to no photonic energy. The Plasmastorm spark is characterized not only by a massive ignition kernel but also with the emission of high energy photons. The extremely short duration of the high current 'ION pulse' breaks down a relatively large quantity of the surrounding gases, releasing an audible shockwave as the gases are 'cracked' which is the same physical phenomenon as a clap of lightning causing thunder.
Does the extremely bright light or photonic energy liberated by the Plasmastorm spark actually combust fuel as opposed to a standard spark generated by an MSD box?
Yes fuel can be ignited using photons alone! As early as the 70s the gas turbine laboratory at MIT managed to run a gas turbine engine by bombarding it with photons alone, without any direct form of ignition. Since that time many patents have been filed to ignite gas turbines using photons alone.If thats not convincing, virtually all current Jet turbine ignition systems use high energy IONIC pulse ignition systems that liberate high energy photons similar to the Plasmastorm ignition module. Here is a demonstration video of a Jet Turbine Ignition module. Igniting fuel in a turbine is much more difficult than igniting fuel inside a closed Internal Combustion Engine. When ignition is required in a Jet turbine regardless of altitude or cruising speed, the spark has to be powerful and must liberate enough energy to ignite a fuel mix that is constantly being mixed with air and ejected out of the turbine in the shortest possible time. The combustion chamber in a jet engine is much larger than an internal combustion engine and a hot spark alone will not do. The spark has to be supply both heat and light, but mostly enough photonic energy to ignite fuel dispersed through out the combustion chamber.
The typical spark energy output by a conventional low current High Voltag spark is said to be more than sufficient for ignition. Is this true?
A typical distributor based ignition system outputs enough energy to keep the engine firing and not cause misfires. However the energy is insufficient to ignite the entire fuel mix inside the combustion chamber. Incomplete combustion doesn't allow the maximum amount of benefit from the fuel. The Plasmastorm system completely burns all fuel inside the combustion chamber at a faster rate than any conventional distributor ignition system available today allowing you to run richer and gain more horsepower and torque. More complete combustion results in additional energy.
Are there similar ignition technologies compared to the Plasmastorm ignition module, available on the market?
No. Plasmastorm is the only plasma ignition system currently available on the market and is sold exclusively by Blue Phoenix Ignition. The sparkamp module will no longer be available on websites such as Aquapulser.com, Ecoignition etc.
Does the Plasmastorm system work with coil on plug and waste spark systems.
Yes, the Plasmastorm system will work on waste spark systems with our custom cables and dual plasma power supply. Currently we have coil over plug models available for Ford engines. We also carry Hyundai, Toyota and Honda coil over plug plasma ignition systems for select models.
Does Plasmastorm system significantly reduce emissions?

How much mileage can I expect to gain using the Plasmastorm ignition module?
Mileage gains can vary from a nominal 10% to a whopping 40% and depends entirely on the degree of optimization. The duration of the Plasmastorm spark is short and therefore timing can be advanced toward Top Dead Center to get the maximum power out of your. Significant mileage gains can be achieved if the Plasmastorm module is used in conjunction with lean burn engines that are able to lean out the fuel using custom EFIE or equivalent on the free way. If you have a lean burn engine or can optimize your engine for lean burn and you drive long distances, the Plasmastorm module is for you! Custom EFIE circuits that are available online must be used as stock ECUs do not lean out fuel beyond the level set at the factory which is configured for the weak ignition spark. Do I have to use non resistor plugs for high energy Plasmastorm ignition?
Yes, for maximum performance NON RESISTOR sparkplugs must be used with the Plasmastorm system.
Do I need to use non resistor ignition cables?
Yes you will require low resistance copper core racing ignition cables to connect from the individual Plasmastorm distributor caps to the spark plugs.
What is the difference between the Plasmastorm electronics and MSD ignition?
The plasmastorm plasma ignition amplifier is an add on device that works with your MSD ignition system. The core fundamental difference between the Plasmastorm and MSD system is that the MSD box fires an ignition coil to generate a high voltage milliamp spark. The Plasmastorm system does not generate high voltage nor does it fire the primary side of an ignition coil. Rather the Plasmastorm system discharges a pulse of current increasing the net output energy of the vehicles onboard ignition system to a very high energy plasma spark.
Can the Plasmastorm unit be used in conjunction with MSD?
Yes the Plasmastorm module can be used as an add on amplifier with any MSD box or any CDI box from PETRONIX, MALLORY, AEM etc. We guarantee that the Plasmastorm system will increase horsepower even if you have a high end ignition box from any leading brand installed.

Is the Plasmastorm system legal for RACING?
Technically yes. The Plasmastorm system was designed ground up as a racing ignition product that does not violate any of the rules of NHRA, NASCAR etc. The Plasmastorm system does not collect data, does not have any rev controller element, does not adjust timing nor does it require any modification of the stock ignition coil, HEI distributor, rotary electronic or otherwise or any other component of a race car. The Plasmastorm simply increases the net output energy of the high voltage spark and therefore is technically legal for any racing application. The very high energy Plasmastorm ignition upgrade will definitely give you an edge in any race.
Can the Plasmastorm unit be used on a small engine such as a Harley, dirt bike, jetski, snowmobile or outboard motor?
Yes. The Plasmastorm unit can be used for any single cylinder or V twin engine as long as it is a single fire ignition system.
How does the Plasmastorm system connect to the HEI distributor and spark plugs?The Plasmastorm system connects to the plasma distribution bricks which connect the high voltage cables from the distributor and the spark plug. The Plasmastorm system does not come in contact with the distributor or MSD box wiring. Installing the Plasmastorm system is as simple as replacing a set of plug wires and spark plugs.
